Watch online HACHIKO (2023) Hachiko HD This telling comes from China and is not devoid of charm. It hits the right emotional rhythm too. Although the soundtrack may not be suitable for American ears. The tear-jerking moment (when the audience realizes dogs can’t do anything)) is still hilarious and the film is beautifully shot. I think there’s mostly a problem with this version because of the breed of dog used. The previous 2 movies made about this dog were historically accurate, depicting a very specific breed: the Akita. This is an important part of the story. Changing the breed to the Chinese breed negates the Akita’s reputation for loyalty to one person. It’s the main reason I can’t give a higher rating.
