But everything changes when her magnetic youth pastor, Owen, returns to their church. It was clear that the director was doing his best to capture the struggles and dark side of the fundamentalist Christian community. But the film doesn’t have as strong an impact as it seems due to the plot being predictable and the characters not being fully invested.
