The Wonder (2022) HD Lib has been constantly told that “You only came here to see.” She is an observer like us. There’s an interesting bookend to this story that goes too far in terms of format. But it would be interesting to see a piece about faith and skepticism in equal measure, directly confronted with the audience. Naturally, Lib’s instincts would start with most viewers wondering if Anna wasn’t eating and increasingly worried about her deteriorating physical condition. Pugh takes us on a journey from wonder to worry, and “The Wonder” becomes a study of empathy and action. How long can we expect to just “watch” when a child’s life is in danger? How long can we remain indifferent when faith shatters communities and families?
